As suggested in the Oracle press release announcing the purchase of BEA inc, BEA's SOA product suite AquaLogic is to become part of Oracle Fusion. We are still waiting for the details of each component of AquaLogic but it seems that ALSB, the AquaLogic Enterprise Service Bus will be the core ESB with Oracle Fusion. Product decisions on the other components will be interesting but Oracle has strengthened Fusion with the addition of ALSB and it will no doubt take the same approach with User Interaction, BPM, DataServices, Registry and the other components.

Oracle received European approval for its acquisition of BEA and completed the transaction. BEA is no longer a legal entity and all products and personnel now come under Oracle.

Oracle are running a series of Seminars from July to September worldwide. There will be six seminars throughout the UK and Ireland. Estafet will be attending. The seminars should provide some further information on the approach Oracle are taking to the BEA products and hopefully an insight to the SOA product suite roadmap. Oracle will explain their middleware strategy, why the BEA acquisition made sense and introduce local contacts and partners.

The number of UK based SOA projects using AquaLogic Enterprise Service Bus has increased four fold this year. Estafet's AquaLogic Architects and Consultants have reported a rapid increase in the use of ALSB in both Government and the Finance sectors. Good SOA and AquaLogic skills are vital for project success but they are thin on the ground due to current demand.

The Build and Deployment process is a difficult get right but the rewards can be enormous. Estafet has created a best practice demonstration of how this process can be automated. "Its great to see Estafet customers get the development efficiency and cost savings from the Build and Deployment process projects that we have completed. We have used both Vendor and Open source products to create an automated continuous integration model that provides our customers with a framework for process improvement" said Adrian Wright Managing Director at Estafet.
